Biography of the Founder

IDENTITY

Mrs. Claudine Afiavi Omonlara Prudencio was born on November 18, 1966 in Cotonou, Benin. She is married and has several children.

HIS CURRICULUM, EVIDENCE OF HIS COMMITMENT TO SOCIAL JUSTICE, HUMAN RIGHTS AND WELL-BEING

Ms. Claudine Afiavi Omonlara Prudencio holds a master’s degree in legal sciences, majoring in business law and judicial careers from the National University of Benin (UNB).

She holds a DEA in international development law in Rome (Italy), a DESS in business management in Canada, several master’s degrees in gender and equal opportunities, and several other master’s degrees in development project management in Canada and Benin.

Mrs. Claudine Afiavi Omonlara Prudencio has also enriched her curriculum with :

– A training in Corporate Governance and Strategy: The levers of global performance at Sciences Po Paris, in France.

– A diploma course in Organizational Management at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Commerce (ENACO), in Lille, France.

An inspiring career path for young people

Mrs. Claudine Afiavi Omonlara Prudencio has taught International Commercial Arbitration and the techniques of mediation, conciliation and negotiation, investigation techniques in matters of economic crimes and money laundering, competition law in the WAEMU area and public procurement techniques.

She has also worked in the public administration as Director of Cooperation, Communication and Training at the Coordination Unit for School Pre-electrification of the Ministry of Mines, Energy and Hydraulics (CCPS/MMEH), at the Beninese Agency for Rural Electrification and Energy Management (ABERME/MMEH), then Director of the Public Procurement Unit at the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), the Ministry of Mines, Energy and Hydraulics (MMEH) and the Ministry of Mines, Energy and Water (MMEE).

In the private sector, she worked as Special Advisor in charge of the public-private partnership of the Petrolin Group, and represents the group’s infrastructure subsidiary in Benin.

She was Director of Operations of the Alafia Jet Aviation Company.

Today, Mrs. Claudine Afiavi Omonlara Prudencio is the Vice President of PIC International, the Beninese subsidiary of the Petrolin Group.

She is the representative of the Founding President of the Foundation Espace Afrique BENIN.

An edifying political career

Mrs. Claudine Afiavi Omonlara Prudencio was Minister of Handicrafts and Tourism in Benin, Member of Parliament of the 6th Parliament, First Parliamentary Secretary from 2011 to 2015, Member of the Pan-African Parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie. She was then a member of the 7th legislature, President of the Committee on Education, Culture, Employment and Social Affairs, member of the Pan-African Parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie.

In 2010, she created the political party Union for the Development of a New Benin, which later became the Democratic Union for a New Benin (UDBN).

Mrs. Claudine Afiavi Omonlara PRUDENCIO was the first President of the National Institute of Women (INF) from 2021 to 2023.

Distinctions

Mrs. Claudine Afiavi Omonlara Prudencio has often been rewarded for her actions in Benin.

She has received several awards including that of Ambassador of Peace in 2001 in BENIN, Raoul Follereau in France in 2019.

She was named Commander of the National Order of Benin in 2012.

She also received the Paul Harris Fellow Award in 2015 and Melvin Jones Fellowship from Lions Club International.
